The WARHOL Pop-Up Gallery
25 Jun 2015 - 20 Sep 2015
This year we commemorate the 50th anniversary of Singapores independence. Collectors Contemporary marks the occasion with a celebration of one the most significant artists of the 20th Century with a pop-up exhibition and sale museum level Warhol artworks.
By being held in one of Singapores premier shopping locations, WARHOL brings the artists work into a direct relationship with two of Warhols obsessions: consumerism and pop culture. The show will enable collectors and visitors to access artworks containing Warhols iconic subject matter as well as rare paintings that seldom appear on the art market.

Sarah Harvey
21 Mar 2015 - 28 Apr 2015
Sarah Harvey paints fragmented figures floating in a liquid universe. Her luscious light filled paintings often depict the artist herself in turquoise and aquamarine waters. The artists highly original technique involves painting from photographic images that she has directed and then manipulated, resulting in deeply expressionistic paintings that combine abstraction and figuration.
Harvey has received numerous accolades, including First Prize winner of the Ken Howard Award (2007), Grand Prix winner of Art Periscope Award (2007) and winner of the London International Creative Competition (2011). She was also shortlisted for the Celeste Painting Prize (2007), Art Reviews international competition (2009) and Saatchis Best of British (2009). Most recently Harveys painting Cubist Waters was shortlisted for the Saatchi Showdown: Places and Spaces (2012).
Richard Pettibone - Already Famous
15 Jan 2015 - 15 Mar 2015
In the 1960s, Richard Pettibone began producing unique miniature reproductions of artworks created by contemporary masters such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Jasper Johns and Frank Stella. These small jewel-like works are celebrations of the original masterpieces. Towering pioneers of Pop Art are reduced to pocket-sized, hand-painted silkscreens and canvases. Pettibone's works are a conceptual investigation into originality. It can be argued that for Pettibone, art history is subject matter.
ALEXANDER LEE - The Botanist
7 Nov 2014 - 6 Jan 2015
Opening Reception: 7 November 2014 [7 - 9pm]
Exhibition runs until 17 December 2014
The opening reception and exhibition will be held at Collectors Contemporary.
Collectors Contemporary is proud to present THE BOTANIST: a new solo show by contemporary artist Alexander Lee.
Born in California to Hakka parents, Lee grew up in Tahiti, French Polynesia. He earned his BFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York; his MFA from Columbia University, New York; and an MPS from New York University. Lee worked as Studio Manager to Matthew Barney, before gaining recognition for his own unique practice. He is based in New York and Tahiti, and has exhibited to critical acclaim throughout Europe and the United States. The Botanist will bring the work of Alexander Lee to Singapore for the first time.
Lee draws on his rich cultural heritage to explore individual and collective narratives in a multimedia practice that includes drawing, painting, sculpture, installation and performance. A storyteller, Lee amalgamates personal memory, popular culture and history into a rich symbolic visual language. In The Botanist, Lee continues his investigation into cultural narratives, and issues of migration, colonialism and cultural hybridization. Through the plant motif of the breadfruit (uru), the artist conveys themes of sustenance, life, and transformation.
Lees practice could not be more relevant to Singapore and a contemporary moment defined by globalisation and cultural hybridity. In the artists work the breadfruit becomes symbolic of knowledge, learning, discovery, creativity and the international travel of ideas and cultural meaning.

In White Shadows, Sullivan continues to explore his long-held fascination with the west coast of America. Opening Reception: 31 May 2014 [2 6pm]
Exhibition runs till 29 June 2014
The opening reception and exhibition will be held at EDITIONS by Collectors Contemporary
STATIC are taking over EDITIONS by Collectors Contemporary with IDOLS: a brand new body of work created exclusively for the gallery.
STATIC is a creative collaboration between two contemporary British artists, Tom Jackson and Craig Evans. Working out of their studio in the East end of London, the duo employ myriad techniques including painting, screen printing, drawing, stenciling and spray-painting. Inspired by popular culture, music, film and current events, their fresh ultra contemporary works are instantly recognisable for their polished graphic style, explosive electric colours and layered imagery.
For their new solo show, the artists have chosen to 'canonize' twelve contemporary idols. Reminiscent of saints cast in stained glass, each figure is encased in layered glass against a halo of gold. They are disguised in bandanas and brandishing cans of spray-paint. United by their rebellious spirit and creativity, each figure is symbolic of a cultural zeitgeist.
STATIC is represented by Collectors Contemporary.

In June 2012 Equanimity appeared on the cover of TIME Magazine. 2012 marks a pivotal year for the artist. In the year of the Queens Diamond Jubilee, Levines work is featured on specially commissioned UK postage stamps and 100 commemorative bank notes. This year, the artist has worked with the luxury brand Asprey to create a new holographic image of Queen Elizabeth II embellished with a real diamond diadem. The portraits, Lightness of Being and Equanimity, are currently featured in The Queen: Art and Image at Londons National Portrait Gallery.

Vanessa Blaikie : The Form of Emptiness
28 Apr 2011 - 10 Jun 2011
"As inspiration for this space, I look to the natural landscape, alluding to endless horizons, the vastness of the sky, the glow of the sun, the peaks of mountains and waves. Space and emptiness are the body of all things, and are what allows other things to exist. I often think of the silent space between sounds, the moments wherein single words on a page, like accents, quietly orchestrate the harmonic relation of the whole. Smaller parts cohere to create larger wholes, and it is the spaces, the emptiness between elements that ultimately hold the individual parts together and allow everything to commingle and co-exist."
Quiet World - Original paintings by Sarah Harvey
10 Mar 2011 - 23 Apr 2011
"I aim to produce paintings that arouse both a sense of well being and pleasure, whilst simultaneously suggesting notions of insecurity, fantasy and sexuality.
Entirely suspended by water, my figures are sometimes in perpetual motion and sometimes simply floating motionless and in limbo. Each paintings consists of about 20 to 30 glazes in order to denote the sense of water and to truly encapsulate the figure within. I am fascinated with the appearance of body contours that exaggerate under the magnification and distortion of the glassy water which surround my figures. Their forms are fragmented and further disfigured by the ripples and swirls created by the movement of the water, abstracting their appearance, often with implausible results. I am greatly influenced by Francis Bacons' Carcass and crucifixion paintings, and of course by the work of Jenny Saville... "

FALLING SHORT OF KNOWING: RAN ORTNER & NORMAN MOONEY
12 Feb 2009 - 26 Mar 2009
 | |
Singapore Collectors Contemporary 12 February-26 March 2009 Moscow Red October Chocolate Factory 15-31 December 2008 New York Milk Gallery 13-28 September 2008 Collectors Contemporary presents Falling Short of Knowing, a touring exhibition of the two-person show by Norman Mooney and Ran Ortner, in collaboration with Chi Contemporary Fine Art in New York. For Norman Mooney, this current body of work is the personal exploration of inner form and how this relates to the outer world. This is communicated through a very direct and immediate process of mark making. The direct engagement in this process enables the fundamental nature of the form to be realized. "I am looking to understand the idea of something much larger than ourselves, than our capacity to see, that is ever-present, persistent and constantly in motion. It is our intuitive sense of the whole and our complete inability to define it the work explores." Ran Ortners work is driven by his visceral relationship to nature. "In my art, I contemplate the thing that never ceases to astonish me; the inherent marriage of opposites at lifes core. From the most tender brutalities to the most devastating sensitivities. These paradoxes register within me and I see myself within them. I am continually surprised by this reflection between me, as an individual, and the environment within which I exist. The blood within and the brine without. The pulsing surge of my blood; the pulsing surge of ocean waves." -Excerpt from www.fallingshortofknowing.com
